IPO Porto is a reference institution for healthcare provision, education and research in Oncology and has all its activity, as well as its functional organization, centred on the patient. From the organization of the outpatient clinics, through the informatization and reduction of bureaucracy, everything was designed focusing on the treatment of the patient as a whole and not just of the disease, with the highest quality and humanism.
In addition to its healthcare provision, IPO Porto acknowledges the importance of innovation in Oncology, as a critical factor in the fight against cancer. This is materialized through the educational and scientific activity, which encompasses basic, translational, and clinical research, delivered by the Department of Education and Training in Oncology (EPOP) and the research infrastructure which results from the consortium between IPO Porto and the Institute for Investigation and Innovation in Health (i3S).

- IPO Porto hopes that this consortium … will unlock the full potential of real-world data of European cancer hospitals, developing tools for their collection, processing, and evaluation, to facilitate decision-making of regulators on the cost-effectiveness of novel cancer therapies, and thus, contribute to value-based health care in patients diagnosed with cancer.
